THE NEW MEDICLINIC BABY APP IS HERE!
We’ve relaunched an improved Mediclinic Baby App with all the info moms need before, during and after pregnancy.
Our free Mediclinic Baby App is designed to be a constant companion in your pregnancy and childbirth journey. The updated version now contains more resources, webinars and tools to track every moment. We’ve added a new category for women wanting to become pregnant, allowing them to track their fertile window, with resources.
“We know technology and trends have changed over the past nine years. Moms-to-be and moms want support,” says Jeanelle Smuts, Programme Coordinator at Mediclinic. “We have the expertise, and the Mediclinic Baby App can help immediately with the click of a button.”
Who is the app for?
The app meets you where you are on the journey to welcoming a new member of your family into the world. Whether you’re looking to fall pregnant soon, are pregnant, or your baby has already arrived, resources are available for each stage of the journey. “The content focuses on topics largely relevant to the pregnancy and parents of newborns,” says Smuts. “It ranges from IVF treatment, to pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, postnatal depression, or when to start feeding your baby solids.”
What’s more, you don’t even need to be a Mediclinic patient to benefit from the app – it’s open and available to everyone. All you do is register to get full access.
Your fertility journey
Fertility – If you’re planning to become pregnant, go to the fertility advice section within the app. There’s also an ovulation tracker, so you can have an accurate idea of your conception period and don’t need to rely on guesses and estimates. The app will notify you of your fertile window, along with a potential due date of the baby should you conceive.
Mental wellness – Mental wellness forms part of fertility, and the app includes a mood tracker, with the ability to add notes. You can then look back at your previous moods and notice if there’s a pattern emerging.
Your body – Being as educated about your body as possible aids your fertility journey, helping you make the best choices for you and your baby. If you’re a first-time parent and feeling a little lost, the app supports you with easy-to-watch videos about fertility, early pregnancy, choosing a gynaecologist/obstetrician, and more.
Pregnancy support
Weekly timeline – During your pregnancy, the app provides weekly information on your baby’s size, your estimated delivery date, as well as information on your baby’s development, and changes you may be experiencing in your body. “The app follows a weekly timeline to keep you updated on the progress of your pregnancy/baby,” says Smuts. “Every week you can read up on your baby’s progress, with new supportive articles and videos from doctors.”
Webinars, podcasts and video – You’ll also find webinars and podcasts, including tools you can use, as well as information on supplements. Along with these, the app features curated video content from gynaecologists, paediatricians, and other experts. From warning signs for pregnancy-related conditions such as gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia, to what to pack in your hospital bag, you’ll be well prepared. To support your journey, there’s an in-app antenatal course with information, downloadable resources, and FAQs so you never have to feel like you don’t know what you’re doing.
Bumpie Reel – This feature lets you track your pregnancy with photos that you can share with friends and family from within the app.
Help for new mothers
To support and care for new mothers, the app has a host of resources, from the day of birth until 12 months. Weekly content addresses the concerns that come with being a new mom, including how to maintain healthy breast milk and how to help your baby latch.
Memory bank – “Porridge brain” is real, but the app’s memory bank feature will be your companion, tracking your journey from pregnancy through your first year postpartum, so you can track your child’s growth.
Valuable resources – Keep yourself informed by booking webinars and reading articles on your newborn’s development. You can find out about vaccinations, feeding schedules, postnatal depression, and more.
